Hello,

This month, we share read-alike recommendations for the new Anne Tyler book. Below are some titles we think patrons on the waitlist for Three Days in June would enjoy.

You can also read our "beyond the book" article on BookTok, where Dostoevsky's White Nights experienced a recent surge in popularity, along with other Books & Authors articles.

Register for our upcoming webinar on February 27th to learn about the many benefits of BookBrowse for Libraries and receive a free guide of read-alike recommendations for all of our Top 20 Books of 2024.

Plus, check out our generous spread of current and upcoming discussions, March books we're excited about, and previews of more than a hundred additional March releases!

Read-Alikes: Three Days in June

by Anne Tyler

BookBrowse handpicked read-alikes help you recommend books when the one a patron requests isn't available. For example, for someone interested in Anne Tyler's latest novel Three Days in June, we suggest these titles:

Subscribing libraries can view all read-alikes, while non-subscribers can access a limited number.

Beyond the Book:

TikTok's Impact on Book Sales

In 2024, Dostoevsky's short story White Nights became popular on BookTok, the corner of TikTok populated by readers. BookTok has been equally praised—young people are reading! And buying books!—and derided as a shallow way of engaging with literature. What is not in doubt, though, is how BookTok has changed the publishing industry in the past few years.

Books & Authors Articles

For every title we review, we also write a "beyond the book" article that focuses on a related cultural, historical, or contextual topic. In addition to our article on BookTok above, we have recent Books & Authors pieces on the publication histories of Toni Morrison's The Bluest Eye and Patricia Highsmith's Carol, modern perspectives on James Baldwin's Giovanni's Room, a biography of Daphne du Maurier to accompany our coverage of her lesser-known novella The Breakthrough, and more.

Some articles are viewable to all visitors, while others can only be accessed by members and patrons of subscribing libraries.

Upcoming Webinar on February 27th

We're hosting a webinar on 2/27 at 1pm ET where you can learn how BookBrowse for Libraries can support your readers' advisory, book club, and other programming efforts.

As a thank you for registering, we'll give you a guide of all of our read-alikes for our Top 20 Books of 2024 — most of these books are highly requested and the waitlists can be long, so these recommendations help your patrons find another book while they wait.

In the 45-minute webinar, we'll cover:

  • What BookBrowse resources are available for free for anyone to use, vs. our paid memberships.

  • How to use BookBrowse as a Readers' Advisory and Collection Development tool with our database filtering, reading lists, and read-alikes.

  • How you can better support your book clubs with our reading guides and book club resources.

  • How BookBrowse boosts patron engagement with our patron emails that get 50% open rates and free print materials.

Register and we'll send you a calendar invite for the webinar on 2/27! Please share this link with any of your colleagues you think could benefit as well.

Discussions

You and your patrons can find inspiration for your book clubs among our more than 200 past discussions. Members and patrons of subscribing libraries are able to join in by creating their own posts, but anyone can view the discussions. We're currently discussing Wandering Stars by Tommy Orange, among many other books.

March Books We're Excited About

Whether you and your patrons are looking for something funny, serious, or both, we have your March reading covered. We bring you an intriguing family drama from a Nobel laureate, a humorous character-driven debut set in a South Dakota town, a call to action on book bans from YA authors, and a new translation of a darkly comedic novel featuring a disabled woman’s exploration of pleasure that won Japan’s prestigious Akutagawa Prize.

New & Notable Books in March

We've carefully selected 100+ of the most noteworthy books publishing in March — check them out!

Individual members and subscribing libraries can see, sort, and download the full list for all months. Non-subscribers can view books up to the current month and a limited selection of future books.
